I’ve stayed both in hotels and with airbnb hosts. My best advice, if you are queuing, is to stay nearby so you can run back and shower/get stuff you may need. There are still plenty of Airbnb options near the Southfields tube which is only a 10-15 min walk to the queue and All England Lawn & Tennis Club. Wimbledon is actually quite spread out and I would not suggest staying in a hotel further away.
